So, we're pretty far in development! That's good! But now that most of our fundamental features are in, we can finally start working on some of those big boy UI changes that we've discussed. This is gonna be pretty substantial, so I'm gonna do something wild... planning. I'm gonna break down the next week of UI changes into three branches, so that I can encapsulate work into smaller branches, and so related work remains tied together. They are as such:

Main Screen UI

  • Move screen elements into top corners
    • Health
    • Round Counter
    • Money
    • Speed Button
  • Resize tower purchase and upgrade bar
  • Add in corner warpaint/torn banner graphics
    • See if those can... exist?
  • Update the pause menu with new art and styling
  • Rework victory and loss screens
  • Make the credits... work
  • ...and the pause menu
  • That pause menu can be redesigned as well
  • (OPTIONAL) Remove pause button, move pause to escape

Narrative UI

  • Expand the narrative text box
  • Add in an option to enter the pause menu from the narrative scene
  • Add in greater margins to the narrative text box
  • Find a more readable and legible font
  • (OPTIONAL) Add in persistent characters
  • (OPTIONAL) New art for text boxes?
  • In-Game Narrative Fixes
    • Increase margins
    • Invert colors of panel
    • Disable or make pausing toggle-able
    • Provide option for narrative box on game start
    • (OPTIONAL) Be able to click through in-game narrative UI

Tower Rework

  • Adjust tower screen for smaller format
  • Change upgrades path to be a consistent 2 upgrades each
    • Update costs on each to not show negative signs
  • Create separate sell button
  • Add in description box on hover over upgrade + tower
  • No labels
